Myotis 2012

Devizes and District Motor Club held their annual round of the ASWMC navigational championship by running the one of a kind and for this year a new lookMyotis Rally’. This year’s rally was presented in the form of marked maps and special tests (which decided the winner) all on Salisbury Plain. 4 Bath members took part in this exciting event which started in Devizes. The regular crew of Chris Stratton & Martin Moore in the ‘Expert’ class finished an impressive 5th after visiting all the PC’s and RC’s and only dropping 1 minute all night. After Giles Pursey’s absence, his regular navigator Mark Dunkerley sat with a long time Bath member Dave Clifford. The ‘Expert’ crew went well all night whilst only missing 1 RC and dropping 3 minutes which meant 12th place for them. Novice crew of Mike & Sean O’Reilly was back for the first time this year finishing in 14th after dropping 20 minutes all night, despite the nightmares of punctures (then the jack broke) and losing the power steering. Regular crew of Dave & Ross Whittock unfortunately had to retire after 40 miles due to a suspension failure which punctured up into the bonnet.

Bath Motor Club Festival Rally Feb4/5th 2012
Congratulations to Dave Whittock and his team for putting on a very successful road event on Saturday night.
Despite challenging road conditions, 31 cars started the event and little route mileage was lost due to the snow and ice.
Feedback on the British Rally Forum shows that the event was well appreciated. (Full report to follow).
We hope the team will repeat their success in 2013 for Bath Motor Club’s 50th anniversary.
See Festival page for results.

Chairman’s 2011 AGM notes

The AGM has passed and gone, for those who did not attend, Bath M.C. is still healthy and punching above it's weight. We are moving forward with Solo's, road rallies and twelve cars with other clubs,  looking to do a sprint and we have not giving up on the Azimghur. Bath has also proved we can organise and run events to a very high standard with the Tour Britannia stages and helping other clubs to run and marshal their events. Last year Bath was top club in the ASWMC and we got our name on the trophy for the first time and it's looking good for this year too. The reason for this is all our members who compete in events are winning scoring heavy points in their championships.  We have a 14 year old  Conner Sissins on his second event won his class at the Silverstone Solo, so the future looks good. Bath M.C. are looking for volunteers to join the committee to help run and replace those members who would like to step down, so if you are interested come along to our open committee night and see how it works or give me a ring one evening (01225 705869).

We are also trying to organise something special for the 50th anniversary so put your thinking heads on as  any ideas are welcome. We are all on e-mail so it's easy to get in touch and have an input to your club -  if you don't, we don't know what you want. It's that time of year again so MERRY CHRISTMAS and  HAPPY NEW YEAR ...from RAY.

Guy Fawkes Rally

The 26th & 27th November 2011 saw 4 Bath Motor Club crews taking part on a challenging ‘Guy Fawkes Rally’ which was a 185 mile event with 9 miles of forestry. Regulars Chris Stratton and Martin Moore in the Masters class unfortunately had to retire due to an alternator failure. Also in the Masters class was a newish pairing of Duncan Stonier and Peter Blackett who also had to retire due a Roll which after seeing the aftermath, it left the car with a crushed rear end and a wheel just hanging on to the vehicle. In the Expert class were regulars Giles Pursey and Mark Dunkerley who had a very good night finishing 2nd in class and 8th overall. In the Novice class was first time road rally pairing of Father/Son crew of Dave and Ross Whittock. A long night and a big step up from 12 Cars saw them claim 3rd in class and 12th overall. A mixed night overall for Bath Motor Club.
