Thank you to everyone that came along and made the 2018 Bath Festival Targa a success.

A long evening of rallying saw Gavin & Carrie Rogers edge out tough opposition from Jason & Daniel Stone to take the win.

There is a brilliant write up of the event available on www.britishroadrallying.com which sums up the event, describes the tests and gives an idea of how the leaders traded times throughout the evening.

A summary of the results are below and full results are available at RallyRoots.

Thank you to all the marshals, organisers and helpers for volunteering on an Easter weekend, we wouldn't of had an event without you.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year, we'll release the date as soon as possible.

09-Apr-18

We are now only 48hrs away from the start of the 2018 Bath Festival Targa.

Final preparations are in full swing and you should have received the final details by email (If not they are above).

Mike Patton is doing a sterling job co-ordinating with the marshals. We've had a great response so far, so a big thank you to all the marshals that have volunteered to help. We couldn't run without you.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the White Horse Country Club on Saturday and good luck.

29-Mar-18

We have now managed to find a date suitable to satisfy the landowners. It is the Saturday 31st March 2018.

We still have around 30 miles of tests in a total route of 100 miles, starting in the afternoon and finishing later that evening.  Other than a change in start/finish venue we still aim to give you the same great event.

The event will be dual permit, both National ‘B’ and Clubmans events run as a Targa Road Rally allowing any 2WD cars suitable for road rallies, subject to safety and tyre restrictions.

Entries for those already acepted on the cancelled date will be automatic unless you tell us you are unable to make the new date.

For everyone else, including those who withdrew for one reason or another will open at midnight on Saturday 10th March.

Revised Regulations and Entry Form are included above.

Bath Festival Targa Rally Announcement

Following an emergency meeting this evening the organisers of the 2018 Festival Targa Rally regret to announce that the event scheduled for Saturday 3rd March is postponed.  We are working to find a suitable date, possibly in April to re-run.  Everyone will be contacted shortly concerning this.

Due to the extreme weather conditions resulting in heavy snow and ice both on and off the tests in this area the committee felt it would be irresponsible to put any of the rallying fraternity in any position of danger. Potentially just travelling to the event could be a challenge and we sincerely hope that you will support our decision.  The weather this afternoon has taken a turn for the worst with freezing rain tonight forecast and further snow tomorrow.

Issued by the Organising Committee at 20.00 Thursday 1st March 2018.

UPDATE: The organisers are working on a new date with the landowners and will be able to announce an rescheduled date early next week.

01-Mar-18

Update – one week to go.

The advance crews have been out checking the route and the feedback is sounding good with a lot of work being done by the landowners to ensure thebest road surface possible.

We'll wait and see what the weather has in store on the day, but the Festival has previously run in the fresh snow producing a memorable event. Just remember to thank the marshals who will standing throughout the forests during the evening.

The seeding has been completed and is available to see here, the finals will be sent out soon then it will be the big day.

Update – one month to go.

With one month left most things are in place, but there is always something left to do for every official. Attention to detail makes it work on the day.

The winter rains so far coupled with the devastating larch disease hence heavy machinery has played havoc with the road condition, however, good relations with the landowners grading the roads will make everything look like new, well almost.

We have an entry of 70 cars which now fluctuate every day, but as usual you always get last minute fall out. I suppose we should start around 65 cars come the day. The entry includes the best in Targa/Road event competitors, and cars from Mini’s to Escorts.

We have our officials meeting soon, and I am sure more help will be required. Please don’t stay home, come and join us and help make the event another success story.

Phone myself (07785 352852) or Mike Patton on 07837 618670 if you are free.

Dave Whittock (Clerk of the Course)

Welcome to the 2018 Festival Targa Rally organised by Bath Motor Club. Every year we make small changes, but for 2018 it is a change of direction. We have decided due to the increasing PR pressures in running a competitive night event, to change format and run a competitive Targa Rally.

We have organised around 30 miles of tests in a total route of 100 miles, starting in the afternoon and finishing later that evening. The format has been designed to meet the landowner’s wishes, starting at 16:30 and finishing around 22:00: remember to bring your spot lights for special tests run in the dark!

The event will be dual permit, both National ‘B’ and Clubmans events run as a Targa Road Rally allowing any 2WD cars suitable for road rallies, subject to safety and tyre restrictions.

Included in the entry fee there will be a dinner available for driver and navigator to enjoy when you arrive back at the finish.

The entire route will run in Wiltshire and Somerset, starting and finishing at the Frome Cattle Market. All road sections and special tests will be defined by a tulip road book. Competitors are not required to bring a marshal, but it would be appreciated.

We hope you can join us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, the landowners of the special test venues for their continued support and the Frome Cattle Market as start and finish, this being a new venue for us.
