Summer Autosolo - 20th August - RESULTS

Thank you to everyone who supported the Summer Autosolo, it was a brilliant day of clubman motorsport with close competition throughout the classes. Jamie Yapp took the overall honours in the Nat B competition and Dave Greenslade taking the win in the Clubmans class.

Below are the detailed results.

A big thank you to all of the team that helped to organise and run the event and we look forward to seeing you again in April.

26-Aug-17

Everything is in place for the Summer Autosolo on Sunday. The finals should have been emailed out to all competitors, if you haven't already received them there is a link below.

We will once again be laying out 4 courses for the day and will be varying the layout from recent events to keep everyone, novice and experienced alike, on their toes. Whether it is the long slalom or the sweeping concrete bends there will be a little bit of everything the venue has to offer.

Autosolos are a timed tarmac course open to all road going cars. There is no requirement for modifications to the car so it is a great way of getting your first taste of competitive motorsport. Bath Motor club has produced a beginners guide to Autosolos HERE if you would like to see what the discipline is all about.

As always we welcome any offers of help with the event and this extends to any novices who would like to get a flavour of what an Autosolo is about.

We look forward to seeing you on the 20th August.

Well the sun shone, we had light-ish winds, the birds sang and the airfield was very busy next door to where Bath MC ran the first of the 2 AutoSOLOs of the year at Kemble last Sunday

Mike Patton ran a very successful event with a near maximum entry of 58 starters, 4 test courses were run and we finished by 16:30 hrs

Chris Elkins got Fastest Time of the Day (FTD) in his near new Ford Focus RS,

Bath members were numerous in the entry field, some of which featured in the class awards.

It goes without saying a very big thank you to Mike Patton and his organising team that the event ran very smoothly and a special thanks to all the members who were able to turn up and Marshal the various points around the course, man the start and finish of each test, and with a big entry the clock crews were kept very busy. Dick and Alice Pease were busy all day compiling the results.

Without your assistance we would not be able to put on these events and run them efficiently.

Everything was packed up and mostly everybody was away from Kemble by 17:45 hrs, still with the sun shining

Interestingly another club was running an AutoSolo on the same day in the South of England, so it was particularly satisfying that we able to run a near full entry, such is the popularity of AutoSolo at present.

Again thanks very much for supporting the event and see you again on Sunday 20th August.

Bath MC now have a full entry of 60 cars for the Spring AutoSolo at Kemble airfield on Sunday 9th April.

We will be taking reserve bookings (with no guarantee of a run) by contacting the Entry Secretary Cathy Dyer directly on the email listed in the regulations.

Autosolos are a timed tarmac course open to all road going cars. There is no requirement for modifications to the car so it is a great way of getting your first taste of competitive motorsport.

Summer Autosolo - 21st August 2016

Sunday saw another successful Autosolo at Kemble in very good weather, until the very last test which saw some rain. As you can see in the results some of the drivers relished the slippery conditions.

A full set of 4 courses were laid out, including a new "nadgery" bit on some greasy concrete which increased the variety.

A new name to Autosolo was Sam Williams in his Scooby, who took overall honours. Sam admitted that he had got the bug back, having decided not to sell the car after not competed for some 6 years or so.

Congratulations also go to our own Ben Griffin in his very quick Peugeot who was the fastest in the Clubmans event and a very creditable 6th. overall.

The Summer Autosolo was also the nominated inter-association round with teams from the ASWMC, ACSMC and AWMMC competing. The winners were the ACSMC team beating the AWMMC team by 11.9 seconds.

Spring Autosolo - 10th April 2016

A record entry of 48 took on 4 different tests this weekend of the 10th. April.

A tumultuous effort by such a few members to put on such a good days sport, goes to show just how good Bath Motor Club members are.

My thanks to Pete Elkins, The man from Merlin, Sean O’Reilly, Vic Wright, Geoff Sutton, Graham Williamson (from Devizes and District Motor Club) and Dick Pease (Results).

But I have to say the biggest thanks must go to Cathy, Nick, and Graham who tirelessly clicked away on the stopwatches all day without a relief all day except between runs.

A fabulous tussle between Alex Millard and Dave Greenslade, he of Evo 4. (Our usual FTD man)

Test A saw Alex 5 secs faster than Dave, the next two test were down to Dave. The final seeing Dave take it by.3 of a sec. amazing skill. Our own Ben Griffin had a magnificent drive in the little Peugeot 106 taking the class.

Also worth a mention was Steve Connor taking 3rd. in class 4c. Steve adapting to rear wheel drive, for the first time like a duck to water. And our own John Earl who handled the 3.5 litre Quattro ably, but found the understeering beast a lot to handle.

All in all a good day.

Next Meeting at Kemble will be on August 21st. Keep this date free. No Excuses, We have been asked to run an Inter Association Challenge Event, and would dearly love you all to be there. That’s a challenge in itself.

Keep it on the black stuff.

Mike Patton (CofC)

August 2015 Report

When we put on for an August date bringing it forward from October last year, it was to get a clear date to be able to include the event in the BTRDA Championship.

This was achieved and I was personally extremely pleased to be included in this year’s Championship. However I was convinced that I had missed the Bank Holiday weekend, alas I cocked up, and the date was cast in stone.

I did try to change the date, which was agreeable to all concerned except the venue, who unfortunately had another event which meant I had to stick to the Bank Holiday Sunday.

My fears were unfounded when we attracted 45 entries in the day with three withdrawn we actually ran 43 on a very wet day.

With Dave Greenslade in his very rapid Mitsubishi taking FTD by 16 seconds. The next three places were separated by 1.8 secs. The victor here was our own Steve Conner.

My thanks most go out to the intrepid guys that helped out all day in what were most uncomfortable conditions

Nick Chapman who as chief marshal did an admirable job.

Chris Foxley, Cathy Dyer, Mark Dunkerley , Dave Whittock and Martin Moore - Timekeepers

Keith Wilson, John Stratton, Dave Richards and Dick Pease - Marshal Posts

Magnificent results by Ross Whittock

And thanks to Dick for the use of your caravan for the results.

April 2015 Report

Bath Motor Club ran an Autosolo event organised by Mike Patton who laid out some fast tests that required enterprising and accurate driving. This was a round of the ASWMC, CMSG & WAMC Autosolo championships.

The event drew an entry of 33 cars on a very windy but dry day.

Congratulations to Dave Greenslade in his Mitsubishi Lancer for a masterly, fast and accurate drive to achieve fastest time of day for the event.  Bath Motor Club Member Steve Conner finished an excellent 2nd overall in his Renault Clio 172. Stuart Harrison  in his GBS Zero GT came 3rd, 3 seconds behind Steve Conner. Bath Member Ben Griffin in his trusted Peugeot 106 Rallye was 4th showing great pace throughout.

The event was a great success due to the great spirit of the competitors and the splendid efforts of all the club marshals and officials on the day for which organiser Mike Patton gives many thanks.
