Walking Treasure Hunt
Melksham 30th July 2018
Seven entries turned up on the night to join in the walk around Melksham to find answers to clues presented by organiser, Mike Burrows. 67 questions were asked, with 103 points being the maximum score achievable – but for the fact that there were a couple of typos, which meant one question was unanswerable and another had some additional words, which led to confusion! Apologies for those errors! At least everyone had the same problems, so it did not influence the results, though it did make for people walking much further than the 1.6 miles measured using Google Maps.
The timing just worked, with everyone retiring to the Bear for well earned refreshment.
Thanks is extended to everyone who came along to join in the fun, making for a very pleasant evening’s entertainment, even though brain strain may have caught out one or two!
Provisional results were called out on the night and prizes given to the fist three teams. A subsequent cross-check of counting of scores resulted in two sheets having their scores amended, though the revised score did not change the finishing order. A counting error by yours truly resulted in Ruth and Mike’s score being announced as 64, subsequently being revised to 74. A further error was found on Claire and Martin’s answer sheet, resulting in them extending their lead even further by 3 points to a total of 92 out of a maximum possible 103. Congratulations go to Claire and Martin, the outright winners. The final results are in the table below:
Walking Treasure Hunt
Monday 30th July 2018
The walking treasure hunt is a good social event where teams have to follow a route around town (This year Melksham) and answer clues along the way. A good family event and only rarely car related.
This years walking treasure hunt will take place in Melksham on the 30th July with the start being in the Church Street Car Park (SN12 6YE should get you near) between 6:30 PM & 7:00 PM (parking free after 6:00 PM).
Teams have two and a half hours to complete the course, plus a 1/2 hour OTL limit if necessary.
The finish will be at The Bear - a Wetherspoon’s Pub. Food will be available to 23:00 - so even staggglers will be able to get something to eat: OTL is at 10:00 PM - pretty dark by then anyway!
Entry fee £5.00 per Team - preferably 2 person teams, but larger teams can be accommodated.
If you are joining this event please email Mike Burrows on firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 27th July at the latest.
