Walking Treasure Hunt
Melksham 21st July 2019
A pleasant afternoon's walk around Corsham was held on Sunday the 21st July. Mike Burrows had put together a long list of questions to tease the brains of the three crews that turned up on the day. The event began in the Car Park, adjacent to the Co-Op Supermarket. A clockwise route took the crews past 'The Rec', Corsham Baptist Church, along Priory Street to High Street, followed by an excursion around St Bartholemews Parish Church, then back along High Street to Pickwick Road and finally back to the Car Park.
Starting at about 2:00 pm, all the crews completed the route and questionairre by 4:40pm. We then retired to the Methuen Arms for a Cream Tea and refreshments. Congratulations to Martin and Clare, scoring 125 out of a possible 128 points! They so very nearly cleaned the event! It looks like I might need to have one or two more challenging questions next time I run a similar event. Geri and Julia came second with a score of 99, followed by Jerry Pennell, who completeed the route on his own, with 88 points. Martin and Clare comendably decided to give Jerry one of the two bottles of wine they won for first place to Jerry, with Geri and Julia also taking a bottle for second place - so no crew went home empty handed. Thank you to all who took part!
The walking treasure hunt is a good social event where teams have to follow a route around town (This year Corsham) and answer clues along the way. A good family event and only rarely car related.
Signing on from 13:30, Start at 14:00, starting from the Car Park for the Co-Op Supermarket: (Post Office Ln, Corsham SN13 0HH)
