A couple of weekends ago Andy Grimm and Cliver Seagers who share a car, just did the first race of the year. This was on the Donington Grand Prix circuit run by the Classic Sports car club (CSCC). Not a very auspicious start, we finished 5th in class (out of 7!) but at least finished.
Although our series known as turbo tintops hadn’t fielded a grid full of entries we were combined with a series called new millenium resulting in a very big grid with most of our time looking in the mirrors as they are a lot faster than out category (a lot of m3 BMWs). This is effectively two races at the same time with our category starting about ten seconds behind the other one. Anyway after a first lap red flag and two safety cars, my partner didn’t pit with everyone else on the second safety car as we are more into sharing our time in the car than gaining the advantage of pitting under a safety car. However even in my stint we had a code 60 period and yellow flags all the time. That from the racing drivers book of excuses resulted in the poor result, plus I felt the car was down on power another page of the excuses book but looking at the data we were 12mph slower at the end of the main straight compared to last year. The car is now being checked out before the next event at Cadwell park middle of May.
The races ‘we’ do are 40 minute races with a mandatory pitstop and I share the car with a mate of mine. His name is Clive Seagers, friend of mine since university days. He lives in Essex and is not a Bath Motor Club member.
