Review from Dave Whittock - Event Director
Despite the weather the event promised to be a good day. With some last minute entry withdraws the event managed to start 66 cars for the 8 stage event. The first four stages used both the circuit and the outer perimeter road in an anti-clock direction. Car 11 the eventual winner Sam and Jack Cox in the Renault Clio Cup 3 made their mark from Stage 1, pulling out some six seconds to Oliver Hopkins in the Mitsubishi Mirage.
At lunch the Renault was still dominating the front from Oliver Hopkins, and 3rd place Tom Todd in the Darrian GTR. The stage layout now changed to clockwise and we even started to see some sunshine. The circuit was getting drier in the lines but the outer roads was as slippery as ever. During the afternoon both Dean Thomas in the immaculate GTM G-Tec Libra and Oliver Hucklebridge in the Mk2 Escort fell foul of the perimeter road both causing a lot of damage to there cars.
Darkness fell, the spots came on to give a good atmosphere as the remaining cars to tackled the last two stages. The eventual top three are:
Sam and Jack Cox Renault Clio Cup 3 40.15.2
Oliver Hopkins and Ian Taylor Mitsubishi Mirage 40.26.0
Dan Mundell and Thomas Ireland Peugeot 306 42.09.4
