Yesterday in mostly bright Autumn sunshine Keith Wilson and John Earl ran the Somerset Saunter. We were inspired to do this after experiencing Geoff Sutton's previous Mendip Meander events as we realised that this is an excellent type of event in which to encourage family members and friends to use their cars and we hoped to see a few nice classic cars in the entry as well.
We both enjoyed putting on the event and judging by the smiling faces at the finish as the entrants tucked into their Orchardleigh Golf Club carvery meals, we hope that we achieved our aim.
1st Dick and Alice Pease 99 points
2nd Dave, Diane and Steph Whittock 96 points
3rd Mike Burrows and Steve Macey 93 points

5th Dave and Doreen Richards 90 points
6th Geoff and Pat Sutton 83 points
7th Dave and Jill Hansford 67 points
8th Ron and Sheila Biles 65 points
9th Kevin, Linda and Conner Argyle 56 points
10th Mike and Ruth Patton 38 points
11th Colin and Jan Knott and Charles 32 points
12th Richard and Lesley Batt - 6 points
Cars from 9th onwards suffered time penalties due to late arrival back at the finish.
Colin and Janet Biles had to retire as they ran out if time due to late arrival at the start with car problems on their way but to their credit returned home to change cars. They deserve full marks for effort!
As a matter of interest the maximum possible marks was 114 points.
