Aquae Sulis Classic Tour 2026

An enjoyable day at the Aquae Sulis Classic Tour on Sunday July 12.

Flagged off from Salisbury Rugby Club next to a life size replica of a Spitfire, the first Leg to Haynes Motor Museum went to the west of Salisbury travelling through some pretty villages in the Nadder Valley.  It was then onto the Deverills and the forested section of the Stourhead Estate past King Alfred’s Tower and into the County of Somerset.

The day continued with Leg 2 from the museum heading towards Dorset passing through villages with some wonderful names such as Compton Pauncefoot, Fifehead Magdalen and Fontmell Magna. It also went through Ashmore the highest village in the county with the highest village pond in England. Not surprisingly the water level had dropped considerably! The end of Leg 2 was at the ever popular Sixpenny Brewery Tap for some well-deserved refreshments.

The final Leg took us back into Wiltshire keeping to the northern edge of the New Forest where some ponies and cattle roaming the village streets and country roads added to the day.  The finish in SRFC was very welcome with some cool drinks, an excellent meal and a chance to cool off.

As always, we would like to thank all of the volunteers in a variety of roles that made the event possible, not least those who braved the heat all day.
