Malcolm Review ” More used to running classic car marathons throughout Europe, SeaSun Rallies embarked on their first event for vintage cars based around the beautiful city of Durbury in Belgium. Durbury, the smallest city in Belgium is located in Wallonia and is really a village rather than a city with beautiful architecture and first class restaurants.
The Vintage Ardennes rally attracted 32 cars from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s with the Bentley Boys (and girls) being most prevalent but with marques such as Riley, Jaguar, BMW and of course our 1936 Ford making their presence felt.
The cloverleaf route around the outstanding countryside over three days was intoxicating, with stops for lunch at historical residences and even a lunch stop at the Spa Francorchamps circuit during free practice for the following weekends 24 hour race, a real bonus for this group of petrol heads.
The organisers got most things right, a few teething problems which were quickly ironed out, they provided a challenging route with tricky navigation (some of which we had never experienced before) that really belonged in the ‘this is quite difficult’ category although SeaSun envisaged it as an easy rally, being their first one for older cars. Either way it was tremendously enjoyable, sunny days in the company of friends and fellow competitors, what’s not to like, and more trophies for our cabinet at its conclusion was a fitting end to this inaugural rally. Highly recommended and we will definitely return”
